Our History
August 1956
First classes are held in the basement of Grace Brethren Church with nineteen students grades 1-5 and one teacher.
November 1963
CSY moves to the 12-acre Greenbriar Campus with seven classrooms
January 1984
The Board of Directors approves a three-phase $1 million building program to expand the school and facilities.
July 1990
Fire destroys the high school, library, sportatorium, and main office complex. "Because of God's grace, we are rebuilding!"
September 1996
A new seven-room middle school is occupied and the previous middle school area is remodeled to house a computer lab, Discovery Center, Resource Rooms and Guidance Office.
2018
During a time of transition and new beginnings, CSY refocuses on our core values. We adopt new leadership and a new mascot. Go Defenders!
2021
CSY adopts new branding and an updated focus on renewing our mission. Our new mission statement is created. Christian School of York is equipping students through academic rigor and uncompromising Biblical truth to impact the world for Christ.
1956
A group of concerned pastors and parents join to form the Christian School Association of York. The first association meeting is held on in June 1956.
1957
The 2150 Susquehanna Trail North building is purchased for $11,000. Two teachers and six grades are housed there.
1974-1977
Additional classrooms are added, the building is dedicated to the Lord with the first commencement of seven graduates.
May 1987
CSY receives accreditation from Association of Christian Schools International and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
January 1991
The rebuilt high school, library, sportatorium, and main office complex are dedicated and reoccupied.
2009
a 12,000 square-foot Early Education Center (EEC), is built to house our PreK 2, PreK 3, PreK 4 and kindergarten students.
2020
In spite of a pandemic, CSY continues to provide quality education immersed in biblical truths. Superintendent, Andy Bell, leads us in providing for continuity of learning so our students continue to grow academically and spiritually through in person learning.
2022
CSY is rooted and growing in faith and in student count! We reached over 400 students and continue to grow as we see God’s blessings unfold.
